Counting skills and an open-ended creative activity rolled into one. A STEAM activity for preschool, pre-k, prep, and kindergarten or at-home learning for preschoolers.

This resource is part of the Maker Mat Bundle.  If you purchase the money-saving bundle, you do not need to purchase this resource.

*Please note that this is a digital product.  You will be able to download the ZIP file with the PDF documents upon your purchase.  Nothing will be shipped to you.  Due to the nature of digital downloads, your purchase is not refundable.

Kids select cards to determine how many objects to add to their maker mats. They can then make a creation with the materials. Perfect for your math centers or math workstations, fine motor centers, or art center or maker space. Use as an independent or small group activity.

Cards for many everyday household materials have been provided (1-20) to give you a great deal of flexibility. Add playdough for a 3-dimensional design twist. Plus, ideas for fine motor activities are included.

 The set includes the following:

  • full page maker mats (5 colors and b&w)
  • 1-20 numbered material cards for 13 different materials

**All printables include full color and black and white options.

Counting materials include everyday items that you probably already have in your classroom or household.

Material cards are included for the following:

  •  bottle caps
  • craft sticks
  • buttons
  • beads
  • toothpicks
  • cotton swab
  • cotton balls
  • pom-poms
  • paper clips
  • googly eyes
  • straws
  • pipe cleaners
  • rubber bands

You do not need all of the materials to use the activity. Play with what you have. You can also use materials in different colors or styles to support your thematic unit or lesson plans.
